A RECORD number of Australians have signed up to be organ donors since the death of cricketer David Hookes was used to highlight the issue.
Almost 5000 people registered during Organ Donor week this year compared to 931 during the week-long appeal last year.
The cricket and media personality was felled by a blow outside a Melbourne nightclub. When he died on January 19, his family agreed his organs and tissues could be used in accordance with his wishes.
